The purpose of the project

The goal of the project is to introduce social accountability concept among the youth, strengthen accountability in government policy and decision making, encourage critical thinking, expression of opinions and ultimately to increase awareness of and engagement in social accountability among all youth in Mongolia.

Project activities in 2019

SERIES MEETINGS:

In order to promote the concept of social responsibility to the public, a SAY 2019-2020 introductory meeting was organized for about 1,000 students from 10 universities in Ulaanbaatar and 8 local universities, and students were invited to participate in the project competition.

SAY HACKATHON:

A social responsibility initiative project competition was organized in Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Khovd and Dornod aimags to help students identify and address their health issues. More than 300 teams from 108 teams participated in the project competition. The best 12 project teams were selected by participating students and youth.

SOCIAL ACCOUNTABLE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION COMPETITION:

12 social accountable projects were successfully implemented for five months, working with local health offices, local government offices, and universities' administrative, and students to solve their pressing health issues.

BEST PROJECT AWARD:

On May 1, 2020, a joint closing ceremony of the project was organized online. The two best projects that met the project evaluation criteria and received support from the local government and the school, as well as one facilitator who supported the team in the past, were identified.

Project activities:

PUBLIC LECTURES:

Organized 11 public lectures at 5 universities in Ulaanbaatar city and 6 universities in the provinces. Over 1000 youth participated the lectures.

PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE:

Organized 7 parliamentary debates at universities and university level champions were determined. The debate topics were about current political and socio-economic issues.

ESSAY COMPETITION:

Essay competition was held at the national level among youth aged between 18-24 years old on the topic: "The role of youth in the effectiveness and transparency of the government policy".

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The national championship was held on the May 08, 2018. The national parliamentary debate championship was organized among the university level champions. 4 teams from Ulaanbaatar city and 5 teams from the provinces participated the national championship. 10 essay finalists presented their essay for the final event. First three places were awarded. 9 essayists were from Ulaanbaatar city and 1 essayist was from the provinces.
